Stop 26 - St George Hotel lobby

St George Hotel lobby, 500 Main, site of the Platte County Self-Defenses Association and Law & Order meeting on July 29, 1854. This pro-slavery group plotted civil war against the Union. In response, the Abolitionists and Free-Soilers of Weston and vicinity met September 1, 1854, and passed ten resolutions, with 174 men declaring themselves to be Union men.
